03 Sep SELF-AWARENESS IS KEY
Self-awareness is the first step a leader must take to improve. This improvement is not only external but internal as well. It is often said that a person who wishes to change the world must first change himself. He must improve himself.
For this self-improvement, the quality of introspection is essential. “Know thyself” is the maxim that was inscribed in front of the temple in Delphi. This ancient but relevant adage seeks to open a window of wisdom. Narrative identity is one of the profound ways to realize our true identity. Northwestern University psychology professor, Dan McAdams, says: “The stories we tell ourselves about our lives don’t just shape our personalities –- they are our personalities.” It mirrors our references as well. It shows our preferences for change. How are we influenced? What do we resist? What inspires us to lead? All these self-revealing answers are provided by our narrative.
